Early Life and Education
She was born on 8th December 1981 in a humble family to Shri Yashvant Singh Rawat and Shrimati Madhu Rawat at Chaubattakhal village of Uttarakhand. She completed her school education at NDMC Navyug School, Delhi, and thereafter, did her BA from Sri Aurobindo College at Delhi University in 2004. She also completed her Master’s Degree in Media Production & Media Law from Guru Jambeshwar University Haryana in 2006. After getting some formal education in Journalism and Mass Communication she was also engaged in Media for some time where she actively and regularly raised the issues of gender and inequality-related problems and worked with IBN-7 and TV-18 from 2005 to 2007.
Political Career
In early 2000 she was a part of student politics at Delhi University, were actively participated in various student protests and agitations. Was also actively engaged in the cultural activities of the college and held the post of Secretary of the Cultural Society for a long time. She has also contested Delhi University Student Union Elections from ABVP and was elected to the post of General Secretary for the year 2002-2003.
After years of student politics at Delhi University, she entered in electoral politics where she contested the legislative assembly election from BJP in Uttarakhand, in 2007. Later she was elevated to State Executive committee member at BJP Uttarakhand. She was also the National Convener for young women at BJP and thereafter she becomes a National Executive Committee member of the BJP Youth wing BJYM.
She has also served in the position of Deputy Director at the Higher Education Council at Uttrakhand Government. At present, she is working as the National General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha.
Honours & Recognitions
She has been invited on various occasions as a guest speaker at the various colleges of Delhi University to discuss the issues related to women’s empowerment and gender differences in society. She has been also honored by the WDC (Women Development Centre) of ARSD College, Delhi University for working on women’s empowerment through different socio-political aspects.
She participated as Women Leader in (the ICAPP) International Conference of Asian Political Parties in 2011 in Cambodia and also was the part of Legislative Fellowship Program by the United States of America, State Department in 2014. Later she was invited by the Universal Peace Federation for the discussion and participation in the topic “The Responsibilities of Parliamentarians and Religious Leaders” in Seoul, South Korea, in 2018
